Hurricanes Junior Referee Squad

The North Queensland Tropical Cyclones Touch Association has established a development program, known as the Hurricanes Squad, for junior Touch referees. The purpose of the Hurricanes program is to identify potential junior referees that have the commitment and interest in refereeing Touch Football at the elite level.

The program is open to all junior referees within North Queensland that meet the required selection criteria and will provide the following benefits to Squad Members:

• Guidance and mentoring through the levels of Touch refereeing
• Access to personalised development plans and programs
• Personal contact with their own senior refereee Mentor (1-on-1 coaching)
• Access to elite coaching at representative tournaments

Anticipated benefits to the referee base:

• Increased youth referees base to service all levels of the sport
• Better management of youth participants who have their own needs
• Achieve a structured pathway for junior participants
• A sound base for elite youth referees
• Better adjusted/prepared referees entering the elite pathway
